Our Activities

The Community Outreach Programme of RFSI Delhi Branch, spearheaded by Dr. Satyavati Devi, (RML Hospital), has been a tremendous success. The programme extends support and care to the rural unserved segments of the society in and around National Capital Region by rendering the following services:

1. Regular Psychiatric OPDs with free consultation and free counselling service.
2. Dispensing of free medicines.
3. Conducting family therapy Programme.
4. Organizing mental health awareness camps.
5. Motivating the community to participate in mental health activities.

The programme began in 2003 and was funded by the World Health Organization for the first two years. Outreach services were carried on in Najafgarh, Palam, Chhawla and Ujjwa, twice a week. In addition, twice a month, clinics were organized at Hero Honda factory. At Najafgarh, Vishwas organized OPDs in partnership with The Primary Health Center, Najafgarh. The programme gained immense popularity with a huge percentage of repeat patients. The needs of the patients were varied, from depression, anxiety, OCD, BPAD, alcoholism, to schizophrenia.

Paucity of funds led to a pause of a few years in the outreach programme, but the dedicated team at VISHWAS, under the guidance of Dr. Satyavati, resumed the programme in May 2009, through their own means. The weekly visits at Najafgarh and monthly visits at Hero Motor Corps again turned out to be hugely popular. From 2013 to 2017, the total attendance of patients was 4,146. Even at Hero Motors, the monthly attendance varied from 23 to 32 patients. In 2019, the outreach programme was further extended to Bisrakh, Greater Noida, on a weekly basis. The programme had begun gaining popularity when it to be discontinued abruptly due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The team at VISHWAS remains committed to its goals of extending psychiatric treatment and counselling to the unserved segments of society having limited means.
